One Ingredient Applesauce
One Ingredient Applesauce
Ingredients
- 15 Apples
- (Use a mix of the apples you like to eat. I used Jonamacs and Golden Delicious)
Instructions
- Wash apples thoroughly. Cut apples into half or quarters (depending on size as you want them to fit into your food processor easily after steaming).
- Remove the stems, seeds and core from the slices. Place apple pieces into a steamer basket or steaming rack. I utilize two trays in my bamboo steamer to fit all the apple piecess nicely.
- Place 2 cups water into a large skillet or pot and turn the stove to high heat. Place steaming basket or rack on top of pot and cover with lid. Bring the water to boil and steam apples until mushy. On high heat it will take about 7-9 minutes. Once apples are mushy, remove the steamer basket from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Remove apple pieces from steamer and place them into your food processor fitted with a blade attachment.
- Puree until desired consistency about 1 to 1 and 1/2 minutes.

- You can store your applesauce in small containers to freeze or one large container to store in the refrigerator and eat within a few days.
- I like to reuse my cream cheese and vegan cream cheese containers. This size container is great for freezing and you can either write on them with a marker so you know what is inside the container. See other reuse ideas on cream cheese containers here.
